A Note From the Headmaster

One early, fond memory of Glendale Prep was my first year when I had the privilege to travel with our football team to Flagstaff where they played in the NAU dome. I also had the pleasure to announce our home games that season and see our team make the AIA state playoffs. What I came to appreciate most was that our young men were being coached by not merely a great coach, but also a great man. Coach Jaime Self is the first and only head high school football coach at Glendale Prep. He is the founder of the program and has coached 11 years, inspiring players to sacrifice their time and bodies for the sake of their school and to always play with honor. If you have had the pleasure of knowing or talking with Coach Self, you can see that he cares for his players beyond the field and desires for them to grow as respectful and honorable men. He affirms the values of our Academy and helps to reinforce those values through his coaching style and by setting high expectations of his players. Coach Adam Mooberry has also dedicated many years to helping our football program, inspiring countless players to grow in discipline and determination. Coach Self and Coach Mooberry have decided they will not be coaching next year. Throughout their tenure, both coaches have had a profound impact on the lives of Griffin athletes and the memories these two men have created will remain forever at GP. While we are sad they will no longer be coaching, we wish them both the very best and thank them for their time, their sacrifice and their efforts in moving the Griffin football program forward.  When a new football coach is hired, we will schedule a time for parents and students to meet the new head football coach of our Griffins.

Sincerely,
Mr. Navarrette
Headmaster

After the presentation, there will be a Q&A time.

Project Week
Project Week this year is January 7th – January 11th. This project is an important part of the curriculum at Glendale Prep. During the week, all students will complete an independent study assignment at home (reading and writing) on a specific text related to a particular subject in their grade’s curriculum. More detailed information was sent in a previous email.

If you would like to use a different vendor please be sure the ISBN is 978-0307388865.

Please make sure not to order a hot lunch for your High School student (9th-12th grade) the day we return from winter break as the PSO provides pizza for the High School Symposium. (6th-8th graders DO need to order or bring a lunch for that day.)

Parent-Teacher Conferences
Parent-Teacher Conferences will be January 7th – January 11th. At least one parent/guardian of each student is expected to attend parent-teacher conferences. All conferences will be fifteen minutes long.

A separate e-mail was sent from SignUp Genius with a link to reserve a time slot for your conference. If you have multiple students at GP, you were sent separate SignUp Genius emails with a unique link for each grade/section. If you did not receive the SignupGenius email, please contact Mrs. Hayakawa at shayakawa@glendaleprep.org right away. Please do not send requests for conferences via email. Conferences are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please report to the front office at least 10 minutes prior to your scheduled conference time. Conferences are scheduled back to back; therefore, your timeliness is very important. We thank you in advance for your support in helping to make these important academic events a success. Please be sure to read your student’s semester evaluations carefully prior to conferences. Student evaluations will be emailed to parents before January 7th.
