| A Note From the Headmaster
Dear GP Parents,
For this week’s note, I’d like simply to leave you with one of my very favorite poems from Robert Frost, “The Tuft of Flowers”. It’s from his early career and offers one of the lines I repeat to myself quite often: “men work together, whether they work together or apart.” I read this poem several times each year, and we re-read it again as a faculty on Wednesday. Balfour Senior Meeting
Our Arizona Balfour representative, James Smith, will meet with seniors on Wednesday, September 12th during Lyceum to hand out information packets regarding graduation announcements, accessories, cap and gowns, and class rings. Please take the time to look over the packet your student receives, as Balfour will return to campus to take orders on Tuesday, September 18th during 1st Lyceum. PSO Restaurant Night -FroYo Craze
The PSO Restaurant Night Fundraiser at FroYo Craze is next Friday, September 14th from noon to 10 p.m. Remember to invite family and friends on this early release day. No flyer needed; when checking out mention Glendale Prep fundraiser and 20% of the proceeds help fund our Senior Trip. FroYo Craze is located at 8385 W Deer Valley, Peoria, AZ 85382.
High School Epic Cycle
The High School Epic Cycle will be held on Friday, September 21st, starting at 7:00 p.m. and ending the morning of Saturday, September 22nd at 7:00 a.m. We will be reading The Aeneid all night in the school gym as well as playing games, eating good food, and having lots of fun with friends. Every student who attends will be required to read a portion of the text; please bring a copy of the book if you have one. The cost for the all-night event is $12.00 and can be paid on the GP Payment Portal. The deadline to sign-up is Tuesday, September 18th.
We need parent volunteers for this event! Please email Mr. Mahar at JMahar@glendaleprep.org if you’d like to volunteer or have any questions. All volunteers must have a fingerprint clearance on file with the school.
The Middle School Epic Cycle event will take place in the spring.
Deficiencies & Updated Tutoring Schedule
Quarter 1 Deficiencies were sent out this week via email. GP teachers take the time to detail areas of concern and specific areas needing improvement. If your student received a Deficiency Notice, please sign and return the notice with your student. Teachers are always available to help students during tutoring hours. Senior Mini-Retreat
It’s that time of the year again: the Senior-Mini Retreat is almost upon us! Friday, September 21st, the seniors will have the opportunity to “retreat” to the Sarbacker home from 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. We will have time for recreation, a seminar discussion, and a faculty talk. Seniors will leave GP with their lunches after 4th period and be dismissed at 3:00 p.m. A separate email will be sent with the address.

Annual GP Talent Show is Coming!
Want to win $200? Start practicing for the Annual GP Talent Show! Students can now sign up for a date and time to audition on the sign-up sheet located on the gym lobby doors. Please communicate with your student when they are scheduled to try out and plan pickup accordingly. Auditions will be held after school in room 304 from 3:15 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the following dates:
- Monday, September 17th
- Tuesday, September 18th
- Thursday, September 20th
- Friday, September 21st
The GP Talent Show is Saturday, September 29th. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. Reserve your seats now by purchasing your tickets on the payment portal. All proceeds benefit the annual Senior Trip.
College Counseling

ATTENTION ALL SENIORS: Christina Rivers from the University of Chicago will conduct an essay writing workshop on Wednesday, September 12th from 7:00 p.m. -9:00 p.m. in the Archway Multipurpose Room. A sign-up sheet has been placed on the CC message board.
Sophomore Night is next Tuesday, September 11th, in the Archway Multipurpose Room from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. All sophomores and their parents are expected to attend this program to learn about what comes next in the college search and process.
Freshman Night is next Thursday, September 13th, in the Archway Multipurpose Room from 6:00 pm. – 8:00 p.m. All freshmen and their parents are expected to attend this program to learn about what comes next in the college search and process.
Athletics
Please note that when athletes are released early for a sporting event, it is not required for parents to come in to sign them out. Students are released through the gym lobby doors for a quick and easy pick-up by parents as to allow students to conserve their time in the classroom as much as possible.
