Study Skills Workshop

Our Study Skills Workshop is rapidly approaching. It will be on Saturday, August 18th from 8:15 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. We strongly recommend that all 6th graders and new students attend; however, all GP students are welcome to join. This workshop includes 3 interactive seminars on the following topics:

  1. Organization and Time Management
  2. Reading and Test Preparation
  3. Note Taking and Outlining

Students are asked to attend the workshop with one parent. The cost of each student/parent “team” is $20 ($30 for 2 or more siblings/parent teams). Light snacks will be provided.

Late to School
If a student is late for school, we require that a parent come into the office with their student to sign them in for the day. After three unexcused tardies and every subsequent tardy during the quarter, a student is required to serve detention. For more on tardies please refer to the GP Handbook. Thank you for your help with keeping classroom interruptions to a minimum.

Label Personal Items
We ask that your student label all personal items clearly ie. planners, pencil cases, water bottles, glass cases, GP sweaters, etc. This will help ensure the return of valuable items to your child.

Minimizing Classroom Interruptions
In an effort to decrease classroom interruptions, students will not be called out of class for forgotten items. Please ensure students do their best to be prepared for the school day by bringing lunches, sports equipment, homework, etc. with them as well as a pre-arranged ride home when they arrive at school in the morning. If an item is brought in, parents can simply drop the forgotten item on the bookshelf in the office lobby. Please remind your student, all personal belongings should be placed in their locker (or locker room for sports equipment) and not stored in the office or Lost and Found Cart.

Our front office receives a high volume of calls with requests to pass along messages to students. While some of these calls are necessary, we would like to be mindful of the front office staff’s time in delivering these messages to students’ lockers throughout the day.

Traffic Reminder
We would like to remind parents to be safe, courteous and follow all traffic laws when dropping off and picking up your students each day at Glendale Prep. We continue to work closely with both Peoria City Traffic Engineers and Peoria Police department to ensure that our traffic procedures are safe for both students and drivers.

All traffic on campus is one way between 7:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

We ask that parents pull forward as far as they can when picking up students; this ensures that the maximum number of cars can be loaded at the same time. Under no circumstance should a student cross into the parking lot to be picked up or enter a car from the 2nd lane of traffic.

Please review the traffic procedures document, which can be found on the Glendale Prep website, and follow faculty instructions in the parking lot to facilitate the safe orderly transportation to and from school.

6th Grade Immunization Requirement
To Parents of 6th Graders,

According to Arizona Revised Statutes 15-871-874, all students who are 11 years of age and in the 6th grade must have the TDaP booster and meningococcal (MCV4) immunizations. These immunizations should have been completed before the first day of school. These two immunizations are given after the student turns 11 years old. Therefore, if your student is not 11 before the first day of school, the immunizations will be due as soon as your student turns 11. Please bring in proof of immunization status as soon as these immunizations are completed.

Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. If you have any question please contact our nurses at sgaza-delacruz@archwayglendale.org lmadeya@archwayglendale.org.
