A Note From the Headmaster
If I am completely honest, field day is one of my favorite days of the school year. There is something about the day that brings our student body together, teams of 6th through 12th grade students, for the sheer enjoyment of showcasing talents, solidarity, and friendly yet fiery competition. It is exhausting but so worth it.  I really like snacking on cuties and Cheez-Its as well. Thank you to Debbie Ayer and our parent volunteers for all their help! I also want to thank our teachers who spend nearly the entire day without much of a break to help our students form memories and strengthen friendships. Our seniors lead their teams to victory with the hope of being named champions, receiving medals of honor, and coming to drink the nectar of the gods (water) from the field day cup. What was unique about this year is that teams could win 5 points for showing spirit through finding a way to unite their team in dress. The Seniors took the lead on this, and they did not disappoint. I saw teams with elaborate banners, special chants, and painted faces. Some teams were wearing hats, bandanas, or crowns. One senior harnessed the power of Sparta and told his teammates to come back from every competition with their cape or come back on it! It was intense. The day always ends with our tug of war competition, and the winning class was the Seniors for strategy, but the Juniors for strength. Nevertheless, it must be noted for all- The faculty beat the seniors!

I know the students had a wonderful time and will certainly have a restful weekend.

Sincerely,
Mr. Navarrette

Traffic Reminder
Parents, we need to be conscientious of our neighbors in the community. Please remember that you can only wait to pick up students on the north side of the park on Pinnacle Peak, east of 83rd Avenue. You may not wait on the east or south side of the park. Thank you for your cooperation.

8A & 8B Drama Performance
Come see the 8th Grade Drama classes’ production of Ariadne’s Thread tomorrow, Saturday, November 17th at 2:30 p.m. (8A) and 4:30 p.m. (8B) in the Glendale Prep gymnasium. The performance is free and runs just over 40 minutes. If you have any questions, contact Ms. Stanford at astanford@glendaleprep.org.

12th Grade Drama Performances
Moliere’s Tartuffe : The seniors present this sparkling French comedy of wit about a con-man who wheedles his way into an aristocratic family, and through the father’s folly, brings them to the brink of ruin on Saturday, December 1st at 7:30 p.m.

Chekov’s Three SistersThe seniors present this Russian Drama, which follows a family over the course of years as the sibling goes from the hopes of adolescence to the realities of adulthood, on Saturday, December 8th at 7:30 p.m. By turns hilarious and devastating, Chekov masterfully depicts the human condition.

Both performances will be held in the Glendale Prep Gymnasium and are free for all to attend!

Great Hearts Counseling Discussion: Students & Anxiety
Our counselor, Molly Caldwell, and the director of school counseling for Great Hearts, Lauren Katz, will be here on December 5th from 6:00 p.m. -7:15 p.m. to present on anxiety. This discussion will explain how as parents you can recognize signs of anxiety and offer you specific tools help your son or daughter. Molly spoke with our entire faculty about this same topic a month ago and will continue to meet with us throughout the school year to discuss other topics as well. After the presentation, there will be a Q&A time. Please consider attending this event by signing up here. This will help us plan out space depending upon our numbers.

Project Week Books
