A Note From the Headmaster

Greetings Parents,

I hope your break was restful and memorable.

It was such a full and meaningful week of conferences. Thank you for your support and commitment to partnering with us to help your son or daughter mature and thrive. While the conferences are only 15 minutes, they serve well to help communicate areas of strength and needed improvement. Please encourage your son or daughter to reach out to teachers and continue to discuss how to improve in the pursuit of knowledge and understanding.

This upcoming Monday, the high school students will have a full day with our Symposium. We will be discussing basic questions of human nature and why we should study the Humanities through the works of Leo Tolstoy and Gerard Manley Hopkins. For the first time, we will also have a Symposium for our middle school students; it will be a day considering friendship.

I am so excited to see the students again this Monday!

Have a great weekend,
Mr. Navarrette
Headmaster

Second Semester Schedules
Second-semester schedules were distributed to parents at conference check-in. Please be sure to have your student bring their schedule with them to school Monday morning. If you have misplaced your student’s schedule, please instruct them to go to the gym lobby on Monday morning for a copy.

Quarter 2/Semester 1 Evaluations
Please note, grades will only be available to be viewed until Wednesday, January 16th. You are welcome to print a hard copy and/or save in pdf form for your records.

High School Symposium
Project Week will culminate with a High School Symposium on Monday, January 14th, a day-long conference. Please note that the school will provide a pizza lunch for all High School students (9th-12th) at the Symposium. Any high school student who does not want pizza may instead bring lunch from home. (Middle School students will have needed to purchase online or will have to bring their lunch for that day.)

All reading and writing for the assignment must be completed and brought to school on Monday, January 14th, and will be reflected in the 3rd quarter evaluations for the subject area specific to that grade’s assignment. Students should have spent approximately 20-25 hours working on their assignments over the course of Project Week. Please remind your student to bring their assignment to school.

Note: Juniors and Seniors will be required to complete the reading portion of the assignment; however, they will not be required to complete the written portion, in order to focus their writing attention on SAT prep and their Senior Thesis.

Middle School Symposium
This year on the first day of the second semester, Monday, January 14th, the middle school students will take part in the first-ever Glendale Prep Middle School Symposium. The symposium will focus on friendship and how we as a community can learn to be compassionate, honest, helpful friends. Although the arrival and dismissal times of the day will be as normal, instead of their regularly scheduled classes, the students will take part in readings, seminars, group activities, a panel discussion, and role-play exercises (no previous preparation is required). We are hopeful that this day will become one that the middle schoolers look forward to each year and one which spurs them toward growth.

PSO Restaurant Night
The next PSO Restaurant Night fundraiser will be Tuesday, January 15th at Chipotle, 20004 N. 67th Avenue from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Be sure to invite family and friends!

Quarter 3 Tutoring Schedule
